01 — The Project

Andrea Menchetti was born from an idea of independent, tailored, uncompromising production. A project taking its first steps between the heart of Chianti Classico and the heights of Alta Toscana, driven by the will to express single micro-terroirs through micro-production cared for down to the smallest detail.

No family estate, no inheritance — just the deliberate choice to give shape to a personal winemaking vision: clear, territorial and contemporary.

02 — About

Andrea Menchetti, born 1995

I didn't inherit a winery. I chose to build one, from scratch — a choice, not a destiny already written.

My connection with wine began in university lecture halls, and found its turning point during my first hands-on internship in a cellar: that's where I understood my real education would be the direct transformation of grapes and work in the field.

Faced with significant career opportunities and the desire to pursue international experience — including time abroad dedicated to studying and deeply understanding Pinot Noir — I chose to pause my academic studies to dedicate myself entirely to fieldwork.

Today my background brings together agronomic precision in the vineyard with a meticulous, hands-on approach in the cellar, where technique always stays in service of the grape's natural expression.

Abissale

Chianti Classico DOCG

The first chapter of the project, born with the 2024 vintage. It's my interpretation of Sangiovese: deep, direct, rooted in its micro-terroir — a valley floor that overturns every assumption about the variety. It grows in the Castellina in Chianti UGA, bordering the Panzano and Radda UGAs — the same geography drawn on the label, where the line that looks like a river is actually the outline of those three borders. A deep soil where the roots enjoy a slow, steady ripening, for a wine that favors drinkability and acid tension over extractive power. A modern idea of Chianti Classico.

Hand-harvested, picked into 2.5-quintal crates — not backpacks: the smaller loads speed up the grapes' arrival at the cellar, keeping the fruit intact and lively.

Temperature-controlled fermentation, to preserve Sangiovese's primary aromatic precursors and keep its natural acidity intact.

Aged in 3rd and 4th-passage barriques — already "used" wood, so with minimal direct aromatic impact. It's there purely for micro-oxygenation: softening youthful edges without ever covering the fruit or masking the soil's mineral imprint.

Color
Bright, clear ruby red.
Nose
Clean and direct. Fresh red fruit — cherry, pomegranate — up front, with a hint of violet and the earthy-mineral note typical of the vineyard site. The oak is barely felt, a subtle balsamic undertone.
Palate
Agile and taut. Tannin already smoothed by the used barriques; vibrant acidity carries through to a clean, savory finish.

Travolgente

Pinot Nero

Born from a passion for this great variety and from research pursued beyond Italy's borders. Grown on the slopes of Alta Toscana, Travolgente seeks freshness, tension and verticality, expressing energy and finesse in every detail.

Same vision as Abissale, different ground: here too, freshness comes before power. The altitude and cooler nights of Alta Toscana slow ripening, giving Pinot Noir the tension and verticality I'm after.

The soils, rich in skeleton — bare stone more than earth — force the vine to work for it, and give back a taut, almost nervous fruit. In the cellar I let them do the talking: minimal intervention, just enough room for the balsamic notes to emerge alongside the fruit, without ever covering it.

Fermenting

Harvest is complete: the grapes have arrived at the cellar and the must has begun to ferment. In the vineyard, meanwhile, it's time to rest — the rows are quietly shedding their leaves, while the harvest keeps transforming elsewhere.

05 — The Work

From vineyard to cellar,
hands-on, in person.

I don't own a cellar building, but every stage — from harvest to cellar decisions, through to bottling — is followed and decided personally, with no one else in charge.

The must fermenting, straight from the cellar.

06 — Philosophy

A boutique winery where every choice — agronomic, winemaking, design — carries my signature.

From canopy management to monitoring the vats, down to deciding the exact moment of harvest, every step is taken and followed in person, to offer wines that are authentic, transparent, and closely tied to the identity of who makes them.
